Latimer Controls CEO and cofounder Simon Julien spoke at the 2026 IEEE Power & Energy Society Resiliency Summit, held October 6–8 in San Francisco. Hosted by Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), the summit brought together utility professionals, technology providers, and industry leaders to discuss practical approaches to improving grid reliability and resilience.

Simon joined the October 8 panel, “Smarter Forecasting: Leveraging AI to Better Predict Load,” alongside representatives from PG&E, Argonne National Laboratory, TRC Companies, and Danovo Energy Solutions.

His participation reflects Latimer’s work at the intersection of forecasting, solar plant controls, and grid reliability. By giving grid operators visibility into a PV plant’s real-time capability and forecasted availability up to 120 minutes ahead, Latimer enables utility-scale solar to provide grid services, including frequency response. This flexibility can help lower grid operating costs and make better use of existing generation to reliably serve growing electricity demand..

Thank you to IEEE PES and PG&E for hosting this event, and thank you to all that attended for contributing to the insightful discussions on the future of grid reliability and affordability.
